Election Specialist – Clerical, Venice Office

The Election Specialist (Clerical) requires extensive customer service skills, excellent time management skills, proficient computer capabilities and the ability to successfully handle large workloads with time-sensitive deadlines. This position is responsible for providing customer service, performing data entry, accessing public records, and corresponding with the public. This position is required to effectively manage numerous forms, proof information and enter data, scan documents, and protect confidential information as defined by Florida Statutes. The Election Specialist works under the direction of the Voter Services Manager to ensure accuracy and completeness of voter data and to maintain voter registration information for the Supervisor of Elections.

Preferred Job Skills

  • Customer service experience
  • Technology literacy and email skills

Election experience preferred but not required.

Work Hours

This position is based in Venice, FL. Hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 4-5 days per week, some weekends and longer hours on election days. Can be flexible with time off.

Election Support Specialist – Voting Equipment Facility

The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections is hiring individuals to work in our Voting Equipment Facility (VEF) for the 2022 election year. The work environment will be mostly in a warehouse setting and physical demands include working on your feet, ability to drive and deliver in a work truck or van, or personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement), pushing and pulling equipment, occasional lifting of less than 45 pounds. Basic technical/computer skills are required for preparation and testing of electronic equipment. Traditional work hours with some months off between elections; some nights/weekends prior to/during and following an election are required.

Election Support Specialist – Election Day Phone Bank Operators

The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections is hiring phone bank operators for our Venice and Sarasota Offices for 2022 election days. The position involves high-level customer service skills, answering phones, operating a computer with our voter registration software, while providing support to and answering calls from poll workers on election days. Paid training is provided and mandatory prior to each election day. The position is mostly seated for long periods of time (breaks permitted). 

Work Hours

Training: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., typically on a Saturday prior to an election.

Election Day: 5:45 a.m. until after the polls close at 7 p.m.
